Beach Patrols

Technical Water Rescue (SLSGB) are working hard to put a programme together to undertake voluntary Beach patrols in line with the guidance from our governing body, Surf Life Saving Great Britain. This scheme allows us to use our experience and expertise to provide surveillance of the water as well as provide advice and guidance for water users where appropriate and safe to do so.

This is not a lifeguard patrol and there will be a limited capacity for rescue and first aid (depending on what team type has been deployed).

We would encourage people to follow the guidance below which is inline with other National Water Safety Forum members such as MCA, NFCC, SLSGB and Swim England.

The role and responsibilities of our team during this declared Coastal Patrols is :

Knowledge of your local beach area and how it is zoned for surveillance
Recognising signs of distress and changes in behaviour that indicate someone may be in difficulty
The key documents that underpin safe and effective surveillance Staying Safe at the Beach.

Each time our Beach Patrols take place our team members “book on” service this is known as “Patrol Declaration” we have the availability to offer a “Type 1” or “Type 2” team

If you would like to apply to join our our Declared Coastal Patrols please email technicalwaterrescue@gmail.com
