Technical Water Rescue – IOW Team is working hard to establish a voluntary search & rescue team consisting volunteers, working on a call out system 24/7, 365 days a year active in flood & water rescue response based on the Isle of Wight
Our Purpose
Our purpose is to provide response and operational support to the Emergency Services in a range of situations varying from providing operational & tactical support during times of flooding or civil emergency; to attending & assisting at water-based rescue incidents; including helping to search for & rescue vulnerable people in the Hot & Cold zones.
Our Objectives:
Our objectives state that we exist for public benefit & to train our team to relieve suffering and distress amongst persons endangered by flooding or natural hazards; as well as those in vulnerable, water-based situations.
Technical Water Rescue (TWRIOW) is committed to the principle of “Working Together, Saving Lives” and “being prepared to help increase resources at times of emergencies.” We are now working towards our biggest vision to with the aim of launching and being operational no later than November 2026 to take up a forward-facing role in supporting a national emergency resilience voluntary team.
Water Search & Rescue:
Our highly skilled and trained volunteers, in strict compliance with DEFRA regulations, are ready to be deployed to support blue light services in the hot or warm zones of water-based incidents, including helping to search for & rescue vulnerable people.
Our commitment to our volunteers shows continuous improvement is exemplified through our strict adherence to Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements, guaranteeing that our team remains well-prepared to respond to any water-related incident across the Island.
