If your event is close to the sea or inland water and open to the public, you will need formal water safety cover. Not optional, not “nice to have”. It’s now an expected requirement under UK event‑safety standards.

Technical Water Rescue (SLSGB) Water Safety Management provides a nationally recognised framework for planning, delivering, and overseeing safe activity in coastal and inland water environments. Its purpose is to ensure that any water‑based event, training session, or operational activity is run to consistent, professional standards that reduce risk and protect participants, staff, and the public delivered by the governance of SLSGB.
