All training modules define the appropriate training for water related activities as set out in the DEFRA Flood rescue concept of operations, this is the document that we work too.

Technical Support – this role feeds the ever changing weather to a team leader to ensure the most up to date information is always on hand to keep the team and the community safe.

Wellbeing / Support – Team member who can help support people that have been taken from flooded homes etc to a place of safety (village hall, etc serve hot drinks blankets etc,)

Module 1 Water & Flood Awareness General water safety awareness training: – No water entry, bank side only. This means team members will be 3-6 meters back from the HOT zone

Module 2 Swiftwater and Flood First Responder:The Swiftwater and Flood First Responder (SFR) course trains personnel to perform bank-based and shallow water rescues and searches in water and flood environments.

Module 3 Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician: – The Swiftwater and Flood Rescue Technician (SRT) course trains personnel to perform in-water rescues in swiftwater and flood environments as part of a specialist search and rescue team.

Module 4 Water & Flood Rescue Boat Operator Rescue boat operations:This course trains personnel to operate powered rescue boats in swift water and flood conditions. It covers dynamic boat handling, casualty recovery, search operations, and multi-agency working, providing the operational capability required in challenging environments.

Team Commander Water team related incident command:Mapped against the Defra Flood Concept of Operations Team Commander syllabus the Rescue 3 The Water and Flood Team Leader (WFTL) course is designed for experienced Swiftwater and Flood First Responders, Rescue Technicians or Rescue Boat Operator Team Leaders who may be tasked to major flood events as a declared flood rescue team.

Module 5 Management of Water and Flood Incidents: The Management of Water and Flood Incidents (MWFI) course is tailored for personnel tasked with providing advice or commanding at tactical or operational levels during water and flood incidents. It is designed to equip incident commanders and advisors with the essential knowledge and skills required to effectively oversee operations in challenging water and flood-related incidents.

Module 6: Flood Rescue Tactical Adviser: Provide advice to tactical and strategic commanders and credentialing

JESIP – Working together, Saving lives:

JESIP models and principles have become the standard for interoperability in the UK. The JESIP Joint Doctrine: the interoperability framework sets out a standard approach to multi-agency working, along with training and awareness products for responding organisations to train their staff.
