Being a Flood Response Team volunteer is incredibly rewarding. You’ll gain valuable emergency response skills, meet dedicated people, and become an indispensable part of the Island’s safety net. More importantly, you’ll know that you are making a tangible difference in your community—being the help that arrives in peoples time of need. All training modules define the appropriate training for water related activities as set out in the DEFRA Flood rescue concept of operations, this is the document that we work too.

Technical Water Rescue (SLSGB) have been the capability of undertaking Declared Coastal Patrols across Non-lifeguarded beaches, This is not a lifeguard patrol

Water safety awareness training: – No water entry, bank side only. This means team members will be 3-6 meters back from the HOT zone

Swiftwater & Flood Rescue Technician course trains personnel to perform in-water rescues in swiftwater and flood environments as part of a specialist search and rescue team.

Operate powered rescue boats in swift water & flood conditions. Dynamic boat handling, casualty recovery, search operations, and multi-agency working.

Overseeing an organisation’s financial health by managing cash flow, risk, and investments, ensuring compliance with legal standards. Key duties include financial reporting, budgeting, overseeing bookkeeping, managing banking relationships.

Acting as the deputy to the chair, providing leadership, ensuring continuity by filling in during absences, and supporting governance. Key duties include managing board affairs.

Actively contributing to the group’s goals by attending meetings, contributing expertise, and making collective decisions. Sharing joint responsibility for the organisation’s governance, finances, and strategic and direction,
