Our Purpose
Technical Water Rescue (SLSGB) exist promote water safety, lifesaving skills, and community resilience across coastal and inland waters.
Technical Water Rescue (SLSGB) is committed to the principle of “Working Together, Saving Lives” and “being prepared to help increase resources at times of emergencies.” We are now working towards our biggest vision to with the aim of launching and being operational no later than November 2026 to take up a forward-facing role in supporting emergency resilience voluntary team.
Our Objectives:
Prevent drowning and promote water safety through education, training, community engagement, and proactive risk reduction.
Develop and maintain competent lifesavers and rescue personnel by delivering nationally recognised training, assessments, and qualifications.
Provide effective lifesaving, water rescue, and search capability across coastal, inland, and flood environments.
Support and strengthen local lifesaving clubs and rescue units to ensure sustainable, community‑based water safety provision.
Work collaboratively with emergency services, local authorities, and national bodies to enhance water safety planning, response, and resilience.
Promote and uphold high operational standards in water safety management, rescue operations, and event safety cover.
Encourage youth development and participation through structured programmes that build skills, confidence, and community responsibility.
Advance lifesaving sport as a means of improving fitness, skills, teamwork, and public awareness of lifesaving practices.
Water Search & Rescue:
Working under the guidance of SLSGB we are able to supply Water Search & Rescue teams, that are nationally aligned with a professional capability for responding to emergencies in coastal, inland, and flood environments. Built on DEFRA standards and delivered through trained volunteer and technical rescue teams, its purpose is to:
- Locate and rescue missing or endangered persons in water environments, including rivers, lakes, coastlines, harbours, and flood zones.
- Support multi‑agency operations alongside HM Coastguard, Fire & Rescue Services, Police, and Local Resilience Forums.
- Deliver specialist skills such as swiftwater rescue, boat operations, bank‑based search, rope systems, and casualty recovery.
- Enhance community resilience by providing trained responders capable of operating during severe weather, flooding, and major incidents.
- Promote prevention and water safety through education, patrols, and proactive risk reduction.
In essence, SLSGB Water Search & Rescue exists to save lives, strengthen community safety, and provide a reliable, nationally recognised water rescue capability wherever it is needed.
